A list of all cmdlets of the Storage module can be obtained by running the Windows PowerShell console and running the command: Get-Command -Module Storage. You can get hard drive and partitions information using the Powershell cmdlets of the Storage module. It starts by using the namespace and by declaring the API function. To get the serial number assigned to the hard disk (or another type of physical drive) by the manufacturer, we have to find other ways, like for example calling DeviceIoControl function or using Win32PhysicalMedia WMI class. From the link in the other reply it does not appear to be purely a hardware manufacturer problem since you can get different results depending on whether you are admin or not. The Get-Disk cmdlet gets one or more Disk objects visible to the operating system, or optionally a filtered list.
